One of the pleasures of reading Georgette Heyer’s historical novels is her characters. Whether hero or heroine, major player, or a minor person with a brief walk-on part, so great was Georgette’s skill that her characters truly live for the reader, leaping from the page as fully realised individuals with virtues and foibles intact. No two characters are the same and a common challenge for Heyer fans is deciding which iconic character they like best.
